Background

Prior to teaching at Wisconsin Lutheran College, I worked with the Milwaukee Brewers in scouting, player development, and minor league operations for 28 years. During my tenure with the Brewers, I was responsible for creating, overseeing, and administering $10-$12 million in operating budgets for all minor league programs, teams, and the training academy in the Dominican Republic.

I served as a consultant on numerous minor league stadium renovation projects and advised minor league ownership and general managers along with architectural design firms, general contractors, and city planning officials regarding the stadium and field design and layout. This included renovation projects at the Brewers minor league spring training complex in Phoenix, Arizona, and the construction of a new $45 million stadium in Biloxi, Mississippi.

I oversaw all aspects of immigration and visa matters for major and minor league players and staff in conjunction with the Brewers’ legal and human resources departments to ensure the organization was compliant with immigration laws set up by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

I served as the main liaison with the Brewers’ minor league affiliates while fostering a positive working relationship with each and ensuring each minor league facility met the appropriate standards and rules governing Minor (MiLB) and Major League Baseball (MLB).

Other responsibilities included negotiating contracts with different vendors for the various minor league programs the Brewers ran during the course of the year. In addition to contracts with vendors, I also negotiated major and minor league player contracts with players and their representatives and minor league player development contracts with different minor league teams.

I coordinated a number of community service projects with Brewers’ minor league players and staff and the front offices at each of our minor league affiliates and I have served on a number of different baseball committees for Major League Baseball. I had the privilege of representing the Brewers at the 2011 and 2014 June Free Agent Drafts broadcast from Studio 42 of the MLB Network in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Following my time with the Brewers, I served as a baseball operations and personnel consultant for a baseball team in the Northwoods League and also worked with two different management firms.
